Hello lovely people, and welcome to my first blog!
As we start the new year, it’s only natural to look back on the year we’ve just had. So much has changed for me both personally as well as professionally. This time last year I was working in a very high pressure, high stress role in a big corporate company and while I enjoyed my job there was something missing.
Around May I was lucky enough to attend my friend’s hen do in Budapest, and to say that group of women were inspiring is an understatement. Each one of them has been successful in their own fields and more than that, they had taken big risks to get there. I couldn’t help feeling the urge after that break to just do something different and follow my lifelong dream of baking for a living.
Of course, nothing is ever that simple. My now husband and number one fan was and is hugely supportive of me and my dreams, so over the next few months we sat down and began to figure out how we can make changes to our lifestyle that would allow me to live follow my passion. It would take some sacrifices but we found a way.
I will never take for granted how lucky I am to have had the endless support and guidance from friends and family that got me here. Who believed in me when I was wavering and encouraged me just to give it a go. I’m also incredibly thankful for all the advice and favours I’ve had so far… and that, no doubt, I’ll be asking for more of in the future!
September 30th was my last day of employment, and suddenly I was on my own staring into the abyss wondering quite what I was going to do or how I was going to do it. But today, just 3 months later, I’m standing here in my catering trailer, Matilda, which was designed and built just for The Bake Bar, writing a blog about how I got here and just this week, we launched on UK Bride which is one of the biggest bridal websites in the UK…
I’m sure if my brother, as a Senior Publisher, ever reads this he’ll spot heaps of grammatical errors. Words have never been my thing but it’s true and it’s honest, and it’s me. And it’s all this blog will ever be.
Love Liv
